As proof of our commitment to sustainability, we’ve established the UIF Foods Sustainability in Action Program to help guide sustainability practices throughout many critical components of our day-to-day business, including but not limited to:

Environment

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact to feed the world sustainably at scale. Fundamental to our core values is protecting and respecting our natural resources.
UIF Foods is committed to reducing its impact upon the environment, by reducing energy consumption to meet our targets under the Climate Change Agreements that we have signed up to and reducing our CO2 output. UIF Foods is actively seeking to employ energy efficient measures and renewable energy technology within its facilities.

Our number one priority is to provide safe, quality and nutritious food products to our customers. We are committed to responsibly sourcing, marketing and labelling our ingredients.

Animal Welfare

One of the greatest responsibilities we have is the care and consideration that we take with the handling of every flock of chickens.
Further demonstrating our commitment to the ethical treatment of our birds, we blend our own feed in inspected facilities that is carefully formulated to provide the highest level of nutrition and ensures the birds are healthy and stress free. No steroids or hormones are ever used, and only carefully screened quality ingredients from select vendors are incorporated into our poultry feed.
UIF Foods takes animal welfare very seriously. As one of the UK’s leading chicken companies, our partners only source birds from experienced farmers who are independently audited against detailed and comprehensive welfare management systems. The birds we source through our partners are reared to Red Tractor Farm Assurance standards, which guarantees they have been reared responsibly. All our chickens will have had been provided with access to natural daylight and enriched environments to provide stimulation during the rearing process. Red Tractor Farm Assurance is a world recognised standard which exceeds EU legislation and UK legal requirements and so we are confident in the traceability of our chicken supply chain.
The care and responsibility for the bird doesn’t stop there – we expect that all partners that handle live birds receive specific training to ensure that the highest possible welfare standards are always maintained. Strict adherence to welfare related procedures and requirements is rigorously monitored by company management systems.

Safe Food Practices

All our facilities are audited annually by independent third-party certification bodies against the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Food Safety Standard or equivalent accreditation system.
We deliver the highest quality poultry, in large part due to our safe food practices. All UIF Foods facilities are inspected and operate under Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) plans that meet all regulations.
Additionally, UIF Foods BRC Standard’s Certification guarantees the standardization of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensures that we achieve our required obligations and provide protection for the end consumer.
